07/05: An Interview in Peace Walk
On July 5, 2008 a few thousand people gathered at Odori Park in Sapporo to march for their opposition against the G8 Summit. People came from across Japan and around the world. Three men bicycled 1500 km all the way from Tokyo to show demand a stop to global warming.
On July 1st through 4th, just days before the Group of 8 first the Indigenous Peoples Summit was held in Hokkaido. Indigenous people gathered from around the world to address indigenous rights, the environment and education.

This unfriendly looking policeman who I met two days ago is actually one of the more harmless of his kind. Why? Heading the Summit, most of his colleges in Hokkaido are walking around undercover these days and seem to be very friendly in the beginning. If they were all dressed up and rampaging like this guy, it would be a lot easier to figure out the situation. Also Jun from America was rather unpleased when she went to the airport to pick up somebody and found out that most of the other people who seemed to be waiting were policemen.
(notice Carlos from Mexico in the back picking his nose)
