G8 Radio Forum 2008

The Citizens Media Center that is housing AMARC during the Hokkaido G8 Summit opened its doors on Monday, June 30th, 2008. It is the largest of all independent media centers set up around the summit that runs from July 7 – 10th. The center's purpose is to provide a base for independent journalists to have access to vital tools in order to distribute their information effectively. These include two studios with radio broadcasting, film equipment and live streaming capabilities. Study rooms for print journalists, meeting spaces and wireless internet are available throughout the building. Translation in Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and English is offered in rotating shifts and a 24 hour full time staff is on call for consultation. Public computers are located in the lobby and a resting room is offered for those feeling fatigued or in need of rejuvenation.
